Do you like to buy online? In this case, you certainly know that as an e-consumer you have the option of returning the goods. Not all of us, however, know exactly in which cases it is possible. How to return unsuccessful online purchases?
Online shopping is fast, simple and convenient. However, we must be aware that not every online purchase can be fully successful. For example, it may turn out that the color of the blouse bought online does not suit us completely or the pillow has an unpleasant texture.
In these, and in many other cases, it is worth checking if we have the option of withdrawing from a distance contract and returning the goods.
When can we return the goods bought online?
First of all, remember that the refund option applies only when you buy from the store, that is from the company. Buying from a private person at an online auction or through advertising portals does not give us the opportunity to return – in this case we will only be able to use the complaint.
We can also return goods at a specified time. The regulations indicate that we must submit a declaration of withdrawal from the contract within 14 calendar days. It is worth noting that returning the product and submitting the statement are two different activities and do not have to coincide with each other. We have a maximum of 14 days to return the goods from the date on which we resigned from the contract.
In the case of the purchase of goods via the Internet, the deadline for withdrawal from the contract runs from the day following the day on which the item was delivered.
Therefore, we can inform the shop about withdrawal from the contract on the 10th day after receiving the parcel, and then send back the parcel within the next 10 days.
Let’s also remember that some stores give their clients a long time to withdraw from the contract and deliver things back – we can find information on the store’s website.
Who bears the costs associated with the delivery of the goods?
The regulations indicate that the consumer bears the direct costs of returning the item unless the store has agreed to bear it.
It is also worth pointing out that if the consumer chose a way of delivering things other than the cheapest method of delivery offered by the store, then the store is not obliged to refund the additional costs incurred by the consumer.
What is important, the consumer is additionally responsible for decreasing the value of the item as a result of using it in a way that goes beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods. However, when we return the item in the same condition as we received it, we will not incur any additional costs.
What goods can we not give back?
It is worth pointing out that there are also such items that we can not give back. The right to withdraw from a distance contract is not available to the consumer when he unpacked the sealed packaging and in the case of sound, visual and computer programs in a sealed package.
The right of return also does not include items made to individual order for the consumer, items subject to rapid deterioration and having a short shelf-life, things inseparably connected with other items.
